INTRODUCTION This specification provides the definition of the Stowage instruction message (MOVINS) to be used in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between trading partners involved in administration, commerce and transport. 1. SCOPE The Stowage instruction message may be used for both national and international applications. It is based on universal practice related to administration, commerce and transport, and is not dependent on the type of business or industry. 1.1 Functional definition A Stowage instruction message contains details of one means of transport vehicle, giving instructions regarding the loading, discharging and restowage of equipment and/or cargoes and the location on the means of transport where the operation must take place. 1.2 Field of application The Stowage instruction message may be used for both national and international applications. It is based on universal practice related to administration, commerce and transport, and is not dependent on the type of business or industry. 1.3 Principles In the shipping industry the Stowage instruction message can be used between partners involved in the loading and discharging of vessels and other means of transport, like stevedores, shipping lines, tonnage centres, etc.. 2. MESSAGE DEFINITION 4.1 Segment clarification This section should be read in conjunction with the segment table which indicates mandatory, conditional and repeating requirements. 00010 UNH, Message header A service segment starting and uniquely identifying a message. The message type code for the Stowage instruction message is MOVINS. Note: Stowage instruction messages conforming to this document must contain the following data in segment UNH, composite S009: Data element 0065 MOVINS 0052 D 0054 21A 0051 UN 00020 BGM, Beginning of message A segment to indicate the type and function of the message and to transmit the identifying number. 00030 DTM, Date/time/period A segment to indicate dates and times for the entire message including the date and time of the preparation of the message. 00040 Segment group 1: RFF-DTM A group of segments to specify the document or message to which the current message relates, and related dates and times. 00050 RFF, Reference A segment to identify a reference which applies to the entire message, e.g. the reference to a previous message. 00060 DTM, Date/time/period A segment to indicate dates and times relating to the reference. 00070 Segment group 2: NAD-SG3 A group of segments to identify a party for the entire message including the message sender and related contacts. 00080 NAD, Name and address A segment to specify the name/address of the party and to identify the party role. 00090 Segment group 3: CTA-COM A group of segments to identify contacts and communication information related to the party. 00100 CTA, Contact information A segment to identify a person or department within the party. 00110 COM, Communication contact A segment to identify communication numbers or email addresses for a person or department to whom communication should be directed. 00120 Segment group 4: TDT-RFF-FTX-SG5 A group of segments identifying the means of transport and related details for a transport stage. Transmission of this group is mandatory for the current stage of transport. 00130 TDT, Transport information A segment to provide transport information for this transport stage such as the means of transport and discharge voyage number. 00140 RFF, Reference A segment to identify references for this transport stage such as the loading voyage number. 00150 FTX, Free text A segment to transmit general information about the transport stage. 00160 Segment group 5: LOC-DTM A group of segments identifying locations relevant to this transport stage as well as currently scheduled date(s) and time(s). 00170 LOC, Place/location identification A segment to identify a location related to the transport stage such as current or next port of call. 00180 DTM, Date/time/period A segment to specify dates and times related to the location. 00190 Segment group 6: HAN-SG7 A group of segments providing a certain class of stowage instructions. 00200 HAN, Handling instructions A segment to specify requirements for the stowage and handling of a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00210 Segment group 7: LOC-ATT-FTX-RFF-SG8-CNT A group of segments providing information about a stowage location and the cargo related to this location. 00220 LOC, Place/location identification A segment to identify a stowage location. 00230 + ATT, Attribute A segment to specify an extraordinary property of a stowage location. 00240 FTX, Free text A segment to transmit additional information related to a stowage location. 00250 RFF, Reference A segment containing references to cargo or equipment related to another stowage location. 00260 Segment group 8: EQD-NAD-MEA-HAN-ATT-DIM-RFF-GDS-FTX-SG9- SG10-SG11-SG12 A group of segments providing information about a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00270 EQD, Equipment details A segment to identify a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00280 NAD, Name and address A segment identify parties related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo including the operator. 00290 MEA, Measurements A segment to specify weight or other measurements related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00300 HAN, Handling instructions A segment to specify requirements for the stowage and handling of a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00310 + ATT, Attribute A segment to specify a characteristic property of the transport unit. 00320 DIM, Dimensions A segment to specify off-standard dimensions of a unit of equipment or the dimensions of uncontainerised cargo. 00330 RFF, Reference A segment to specify a reference to a stowage location or any other reference related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo such as a booking reference or transport documents. 00340 GDS, Nature of cargo A segment to identify or otherwise describe the goods carried in a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00350 FTX, Free text A segment to transmit additional information related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00360 Segment group 9: LOC-TSR-TDT A group of segments specifying geographical locations related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo and processing requirements related to this location. 00370 LOC, Place/location identification A segment to identify a geographical location related to a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00380 TSR, Transport service requirements A segment to specify transport service requirements such as priority or transshipment services. 00390 TDT, Transport information A segment to specify information regarding a related transport stage such as mode of transport, means of transport, its conveyance reference number and the identification of the means of transport. 00400 Segment group 10: TMP-RNG-DTM A group of segments containing information about required temperature control. 00410 TMP, Temperature A segment to specify a type of temperature control setting and optionally a specific temperature for a unit of equipment or uncontainerised cargo. 00420 RNG, Range details A segment to specify the required temperature range. 00430 DTM, Date/time/period A segment to specify a date/time related to additional dangerous goods attribute relating to this hazard such as a UNDG extension code, the proper shipping name or others. 00500 MEA, Measurements A segment to specify measurements related to this hazard. 00510 FTX, Free text A segment to transmit additional free text information related to this hazard. 00520 Segment group 13: CTA-COM A group of segments to identify contacts and communication numbers related to this hazard. 00530 CTA, Contact information A segment to identify a contact person for this hazard such as an emergency contact. 00540 COM, Communication contact A segment to identify communication numbers or email addresses for the contact person for this hazard. 00550 CNT, Control total A segment to specify the number of units of equipment or uncontainerised cargo in a stowage location. 00560 UNT, Message trailer A service segment ending a message, giving the total number of segments in the message (including the UNH & UNT) and the control reference
